What is Image Compositing?
Image compositing is the process of combining multiple images into a single composite image. This technique allows you to layer, position, resize, and blend images to create custom compositions for presentations, social media, marketing materials, or creative projects.
Unlike traditional photo editing software that requires installation and learning complex interfaces, our browser-based composite editor works instantly without downloads. All processing happens locally in your browser, ensuring your images remain private and secure.
Whether you're creating collages, combining product photos, layering graphics, or building visual presentations, image compositing gives you the flexibility to arrange multiple visual elements exactly as you need them.
How to Use the Image Composite Editor
Step 1: Upload Images
Click the "Upload Images" button and select one or more image files from your device. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and BMP. You can upload multiple images at once, and they'll appear on the canvas automatically.
Step 2: Position Images
Click on any image on the canvas to select it (you'll see a blue border). Then click and drag the image to move it to your desired position. Images can overlap, allowing you to create layered compositions.
Step 3: Resize Images
With an image selected, use the +W/-W buttons to increase or decrease width, or +H/-H buttons to adjust height. Images maintain their aspect ratio automatically, so resizing is proportional and distortion-free.
Step 4: Adjust Opacity
Use the opacity slider to make images semi-transparent. This is perfect for creating overlay effects, blending images together, or adding watermarks. Opacity ranges from 0% (fully transparent) to 100% (fully opaque).
Step 5: Export Your Composite
Once you're satisfied with your composition, click "Export PNG" to download your composite image. The exported file is a high-quality PNG that preserves transparency and can be used anywhere you need it.

Image Composite Editor FAQ
What image formats can I upload?
The composite editor supports all standard image formats including JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and BMP. You can mix different formats in a single composite—the tool handles all conversions automatically.
Can I edit images after uploading them?
Yes! You can reposition images by clicking and dragging, resize them using the size controls, adjust opacity with the slider, and remove images you no longer need. All changes are applied in real-time on the canvas.
Does the composite editor work on mobile devices?
Yes! The composite editor is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. Touch controls allow you to position and resize images on mobile devices just as easily as on desktop.
What is the maximum canvas size?
Canvas dimensions can be set up to 2000x2000 pixels. For best performance, we recommend keeping canvas sizes under 1500x1500 pixels. Larger canvases may take longer to render and export.
Can I save my work and come back later?
Currently, the composite editor works in a single session. To save your work, export the composite as PNG and re-upload it later if needed. Future updates may include session saving functionality.
Will my images be compressed or lose quality?
Images are rendered at their original quality on the canvas. The PNG export preserves all visual details without compression artifacts. However, very large images may be scaled down to fit the canvas dimensions.
Can I add text or shapes to my composite?
Currently, the composite editor focuses on combining images. For text and shapes, you can create those elements in another tool and upload them as images to include in your composite.
Is there a limit to how many images I can combine?
There's no hard limit, but performance may vary with very large numbers of images. For optimal performance, we recommend combining 2-20 images. The tool works best when each image is under 5MB in size.
